Helping Volunteer Fire Dept's Raise Funds and Awareness

Governance

Firefighters1st Board of Directors and management are committed to the principles of strong governance and apply the highest standards possible to achieve what we consider to be Venture Philanthropy.  We believe strong stewardship means managing resources and making strategic investments that build capacity, produce deliverables, and create a social return in the communities of the volunteer fire departments we serve.

Firefighters1st believes progressive governance must involve true accountability and clear intention on behalf of all stakeholders involved. This includes not only the fire departments and firefighters we serve, but also the communities they serve.

Our board believes that Firefighters1st is not here to replace or absolve a municipality's responsibility to provide protection to the public, but rather to bridge the gap between the needs of a volunteer department and the economic realities of the community it serves.

The Firefighters1st Board of Directors recognizes its governance responsibilities to all stakeholders and regularly engages legal, accounting and charitable best practice consulting resources to position it on the leading edge of non-profit standards.
